● Flexible modular design – Series 3582 units can be upgraded to Model 3582i electro-pneumatic positioners in the field by replacing the measurement module with a Model 582i electro-pneumatic converter assembly (1). The Model 582i electro-pneumatic converter attaches to the positioner housing, providing a very economical replacement. Therefore, Series 3582 units can be upgraded from pneumatic instrumentation to electrical instrumentation in the field to accommodate new control strategies.
● Efficient, vibration-resistant – Series 3582 and Model 3582i positioners offer a field-proven positioner architecture. It is highly accurate, fast-response, and can withstand the vibrations found in most plant environments. Low steady-state air consumption makes it even more efficient.
● Wide adjustable range – Series 3582 and Model 3582i positioners have split-range capability. Adjustable ranges for zero and span allow the use of all standard input signals, including split-range input signals.
● Reduced spare parts inventory – Since various units in one positioner series can be used in a variety of control applications, the inventory of basic spare parts can be greatly reduced, and only a few spare parts are needed to support the application needs of positioners throughout the plant.
● Easy positioner adjustment – After the housing is removed, the zero and span adjustment screws are easy to find and can be adjusted using common hand tools.
● Stable operation – Changes in air supply pressure and valve load have a negligible effect on the positioner.
● Corrosion resistance – The housing, components and gasket materials can withstand harsh environments. The positioner also cleans the internal parts while exhausting air, providing additional protection.
● Field-changeable direction of action – Interchangeable between direct and reverse acting with just a unit adjustment.
● Control valve diagnostic test capability – To perform diagnostic tests on the valve/actuator/positioner assembly using the FlowScanner valve diagnostic system, connectors, pipes and other hardware can be easily installed between the 3582 Series and 3582i and the actuator.
